In May this year I got a Dell Mini 9 and a friend helped me hackintosh it. It’s been happily humming along with 10.5.6 and it’s just about my favorite gadget ever. It has a 16GB SSD and I keep a 16 GB SD card in it for storing a small iTunes library. It’s super portable, not heavy, and is my perfect travel computer.
I love it more than I loved my Newton almost two decades ago.
I’d like it to upgrade it to Snow Leopard and am tempted to just plug in a USB DVD drive and plop in the DVD and see if it’ll just upgrade. I think it’ll choke or at least I’ll lose wifi and sound or other things I depend on. I haven’t found anyone who’s hackintosh’d Snow Leopard without doing a clean install. Lifehacker has excellent step by step instructions for a clean install and I think I’ll need to do that.
Anyone seen a successful upgrade from 10.5.6 to Snow Leopard on a Dell Mini 9 hackintosh without starting from scratch?

Now up to 0.83 RC1 – everything should work follow link to google code page. Upgrade works.
Peter – thanks much! That looks like it’ll work for me. I’ll try it out this week. Cheers!
Might be worth waiting a wee while. I upgraded today and there are a few issues with 0.83 RC1. The good people at my dell mini are working hard though so it shouldn’t be long. I know I couldn’t wait though, my 4 yr old has more discipline.
